Manchester United vs Birmingham City
January 1, 2008
1/1- It has been a few funny weeks for Manchester United, just a week ago they gained the top spot in the championship by overtaking Arsenal by a point and the very next match when they were expected to come up with flying colors they managed to give up the lead back to the Gunners. Sir Alex Fergusson will be hoping for the team to be charged up after the 2-1 loss to West Han in their last week’s away tie. While Birmingham City would just be trying to repeat the effort that got them a home draw against Fulham, in fact a point against Manchester United in Manchester would be a bonus itself. And if we go by the records it is clear that Man U would not lose this home tie because out of the last 9 meetings between the clubs Man U have won 7 times while the other two have been draws.
Currently Manchester have many problems to tackle, not only they have been dragged back to the second spot and now are behind the leaders by 2 points but their injury list also seems to be expanding. While Carrick and Rooney are doubtful starters, Van Der Sar will surely be missing the match and in such a situation Saha might be asked to start along side Ronaldo and Tevez. Man U have not lost a game at home this season and this would be no different but not getting 3 points from here would be disappointing for them.
Birmingham City on the other hand have not been in the greatest of forms and have been struggling in the bottom half of the table. They are currently 3 points and 3 places above the relegation zone and would be looking at consolidating their position above the relegation zone and a point would be something they would try for.
Prediction: 3-1, Man U win
